Not that I would of course ….well, ok I did take a little taste – I was curious! It does not taste good! But if I wanted to, I could eat it. I of course am talking about the homemade deodorant I just made.
It has 3 ingredients – 1/4 cup baking soda, 1/4 cup cornstarch & 6 tbsp coconut oil (solid form). It smells yummy!
How To:
In a bowl mix together the cornstarch and baking soda. Add in coconut oil slowly and work it with a spoon until well blended. It should be around the consistency of deodorant – firm, but easy to apply.
Why did I make this? Like my husband pointed out today, its not like buying deodorant breaks the bank but I’m not real crazy about the idea of putting aluminum and who knows what else into my body. Plus its inexpensive, easy and really, why not?
Im not sure who to credit with this, I found this exact recipe all over Pinterest and other pages I looked up.
This is how mine turned out: I’m not sure its exactly the right consistency, but my coconut oil was a bit “melty” to start with. I washed out an old face cream jar and used that to store the deodorant in. I put a little on, but its too soon to tell how it works. Although I really like the smell of it, I might try adding flavored essential oils just to customize the smell.
