So far so good

Day one of no coffee….ok so it’s only been 2 hours but still. I’m doing ok considering I would have had about 3-4 cups by now. Instead, I made some green tea and while it comes nowhere even remotely close to coffee, it does provide something hot to drink in the morning. So that’s something.

And now it’s time for breakfast….a green smoothie. I know some of you may be wondering why I’m torturing myself, but it’s for the best. I think.

In the past when I’ve made these smoothies I used vanilla soy milk to add a bit of sweetness but this time around I’m trying out green tea. Yum. So without further bitching I will share my recipe:

Green Tea Smoothie:
Put 5-6 ice cubes in bottom of blender & add:

1 cup brewed green tea(I added a little Splenda )
1 banana
1 pear
1 small or 1/2 large apple
1 tsp ground flaxseed
Baby spinach leaves – I added a couple handfuls

Blend until pourable consistency & enjoy.

It’s actually pretty good….I don’t miss the soy milk at all and the flax seed gives it a hint of a nutty taste. I can drink these every day with no problem.
Ok, I may be back later telling you I can’t live without my coffee….I’m hoping not though.

      It was actually pretty good & it kept me full. Now, I just have to motivate myself to make these every day and maybe I won’t miss the caffeine so much. Maybe.
