I microwaved my wedding ring…..

6 Sep

Yes, yes I did. I’ve been doing this for the last 7 or 8 years and at first I thought it was crazy…..But I was told it was ok as long as you cover the ring completely in liquid – I use water and windex.  Now, before you try this I’m not a jewelry cleaning expert . I know this works for me…..my ring is white gold and diamonds. I’ve never had any bad effects from doing this. BUT I can’t guarantee this will be safe for everyone’s rings. Ok, just had to cover all areas 🙂

Get a glass and put your ring at the bottom. Spray with about 7-8 squirts of Windex . Add water and put in the microwave for 2 1/2 minutes. Be careful taking the glass out. Get a toothbrush (do I have to tell you not to use your own?) and using the end of the toothbrush, swirl the ring around in the glass a bit. If your ring was really dirty, you can see all the particles floating around – yummy! . Take ring out of glass with end of toothbrush and gently clean it. I usually rinse with hot water, dry it off and you are done.

My ring really takes a beating on a daily basis – I never take it off, so usually it has soap residue, flour, lotion, etc build up in it and this really makes it clean & shiny.

I don’t have the “before” because I dropped it in the water before I thought to get a pic of it. You will just have to trust me when I tell you it was filthy, especially after making the deodorant yesterday!

Here’s the “after”….the picture doesn’t do it justice – its very shiny & clean!
